CAMP

Unity Health is now accepting applications for Careers and Medical Professions (CAMP), a program created for 10th-12th-grade students, offered through the hospital’s education department. CAMP is a special summer program designed for students who are interested in pursuing careers in the healthcare field, offers students opportunities to participate in medical-related activities such as first aid, CPR, healthy lifestyle education and learning basic nursing skills.

Eligibility requirements include: a completed application form, due April 28, 2017; a GPA of 2.5 or higher, two letters of recommendation and a recent transcript. Applicants are also required to submit an essay stating why they are interested in the CAMP program; 100-150 words in length. Students must also provide personal transportation to and from the CAMP location each day. There are no prerequisite science courses required, but biology knowledge is encouraged.

CAMP will be held at Unity Health – Harris Medical Center campus in Newport, June 5-9. Each class will be held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with lunch provided each day. For more information on this free program, please call CAMP Director Michelle Foshee (870) 512-3081.
